Boko Haram: Buratai in closed door meeting with Borno Elders

The Chief of Army Staff, Leuitenant General Tukur Buratai on Wednesday held a closed door meeting with Borno Elders to discuss ways out of insurgency.
The meeting which took over three hours, from about 3pm till 6:25pm, was held behind closed doors at the Headquarters of the Theatre Command in Maiduguri.
Although, the COAS did not speak to the press after the meeting, the Chairman of the Borno Elders Forum, Ambassador Usman Gaji Galtimari in an interview with newsmen said, most of the issues discussed were security issues that are not supposed to be made public.
However Galtimari expressed hope that very soon, the lingering crisis posed by insurgents will be over.
He called on all and sundry to support government and security operatives in their effort to defeat insurgents.
“We are here with my members to deliberate on issues which I cannot disclose to the public for now, all aimed at how best to restore peace to our dear land, and we are hopeful that at the end out it all, we will succeed,” he stated.

The meeting was attended by Ambassador Galtimari, the Secretary of the forum, Dr. Bulama Mali Gubio, Former governor of Borno state, Alhaji Ashiekh Jarma, Alhaji Lawan Badawi, Alhaji Gambo Gubio and Alhaji Garba Satomi among others.
