Oliseh’s resignation shocks NFF

Super Eagles Coach, Sunday Oliseh

Ademola Olajire, an Assistant Director of Communications in the Nigeria Football Federation, on Saturday said the resignation of the Super Eagles coach, Sunday Oliseh, surprised the body.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the former Eagles gaffer resigned his appointment on Thursday via his Twitter handle, citing contract violations, unpaid wages and benefits to players and assistant coaches.
Subsequently, the NFF announced the former coach of the Super Eagles Samson Siasia as interim manager in his place.
Olajire told NAN on telephone that the impression Oliseh gave in the course of the week was that he was preparing for the next match against Egypt.
“His resignation was a surprise. There is no way we could have known, and he gave us little premonition about his resignation; we did not see it coming.
“All through the week, Oliseh kept on talking about meeting the Super Eagles players in Europe and assessing their form and all sorts; that is all we got from him.
“After his YouTube error, he called everybody, including the NFF and apologised for the misbehaviour and promised it will never happen again.
“Now that Oliseh has resigned it was a surprise to us, but to bridge the gap, (Samson) Siasia has been appointed to take charge with (Emmanuel) Amuneke assisting him,” he said.
