Boko Haram: Army to support deceased soldier’s children’s education



The Nigerian Army has pledged to take responsibility for the education of children of soldiers who died while fighting the Boko Haram in the North East.
The Acting Director, Army Public Relations, Col. Sani Usman, quoted the Chief of Administration of the Nigerian Army, Maj. Gen. Adamu Abubakar, as having made the comment while presenting the Group Life Assurance cheques to next of kins of fallen soldiers at the Army headquarters.
Usman said that Abubakar, who represented the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai, at the occasion said that the cheques were meant to assist the bereaved families who lost their loved ones in battle.
He said that the Army would also sponsor four children from each of the families from primary to tertiary education level.
“The Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai, has reiterated the pledge of the Nigerian Army to sponsor the education of children of NA personnel who lost their lives during the counter-insurgency operations in the North East.
“He made the pledge through the Chief of Administration, Army, Maj. Gen. Adamu Abubakar, during the presentation of the Group Life Assurance cheques to the Next of Kins of each of the bereaved families at the Army Headquarters yesterday.
“In his remarks, Gen Abubakar said the cheques were to provide succour to the bereaved families to cushion the economic impact caused by the loss of their bread winners.

“Maj Gen Abubakar added that aside from the cheques, the NA would sponsor four children each of the bereaved families, from primary  up to the tertiary level of education. The families present at the occasion were full of gratitude to the NA for showing commitment in alleviating their plight.” The statement read.
